The Xeon W3670's 32nm architecture is smaller and more efficient than the 45 and 65nm architectures more commonly used with the Xeon line's quad core chips; this allows the Xeon W3670 to operate at a lower temperature than equivalent 45nm processors. Additionally, the Xeon W3670's 12MB L3 cache allows it to process tasks with greater efficiency while its hyper-threading technology optimizes overall processor efficiency by allowing each core to perform two function simultaneously when working with threaded applications.
