It is built on the 45nm process (Nehalem), it is faster, and more efficient than many previous Intel server processors. The 45nm generation server processors are based on a different processor architecture, it has an on-die front side bus.

Product Shot 2 The E5220 has a maximum clock speed of 2.33GHz, 6MB cache, as well as a relatively low (for similar processors) TDP of 65W. It uses the LGA771 socket and supports a range of features including: Intel Virtualization Technology (VT-x), Intel 64, Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology, and Execute Disable bit. Whilst the Xeon E5220 is a relatively budget friend processor designed for server usage, it is still more expensive and not needed by the average home computer user.
