Product Shot 1 The Pros:Good price:performance value. Not ridiculously expensive. 4 'real' cores - the lower-end i5 CPUs lack this, and only feature 2 real cores, with hyperthreading.

The Cons:Does not feature the hyperthreading (8-threads, or 'fake' cores) of the next step up (Core i7). Still based on 45nm (Lynnfield), when the other i5s / i3s are built on 32nm (Westmere).

The Intel Core i5-750 is a higher-end, quad-core desktop processor. The CPU and its more energy-efficient version, the i5-720S, are positioned at the top of the i5 series as its only quad-core members.

Product Shot 2 The i5-750 clocks in at 2.66 GHz, but can be overclocked to 3.2 GHz, and features an 8MB L3 cache. The CPU is similar to the entry-level model in the top-of-the-line i7 series, the 2.8GHz i7-860, sharing a Nehalem microarchitecture and Turbo Boost, among other features, but notably disabling simultaneous multithreading technology. The i5-750 also features XD bit, which helps defend against certain viruses, but lacks Trusted Execution Technology, a more advanced safety feature found in dual-core i5-series units.
