The unit is a step up from the T9600, which clocks in at 2.80 GHz, but the T9800 lacks the T9600's "Turbo Boost" technology. Although Intel planned to keep T-series TDP values under 30 W, this unit has a TDP of 35 W. To older Centrino models, the T9800 adds SSE4.1 support and a higher front side bus speed of 1066 MHz. After a short delay, Montevina CPUs were released in July 2008. This model is unavailable at retail.
