This “Merom” version of the Core 2 Duo processor was replaced by the “Penryn” line in early 2008.
This CPU has a clock speed of 2.60 GHz, an 800 MHz front side bus and 4 MB of L2 cache. As one of the more expensive chips in the “Merom” family of processors, users can expect better performance for CPU-intensive applications. 64-bit operating systems are supported, allowing the latest versions of Windows 7 to be installed. Intel has also included their proprietary virtualization technology, which allows users to run more than one operating system simultaneously.
