AMD Phenom X3 8650
$145.00
Released April, 2008
The Pros:Value - a great compromise between price and performance. Efficient - runs relatively cool with the stock heatsink. A great choice for a budget gaming build - all the processing power you'll need for modern games.
The Cons:Mediocre stock heatsink - it's just a block of aluminum with a fan attached. Aging CPU - becoming hard to find. Not much overclocking potential - comes with a locked multiplier.
The only processor line to utilize 3 cores, the Phenom X3 8650 attempts to strike a balance between number of usable cores and price. In reality a true Phenom X4, the 8650 contains a malfunctioning core which was disabled after manufacture.
