The X6 1090T features 3MB of L2 cache and 6MB of L3 cache on a 45nm chip design. In terms of motherboard compatibility, socket AM3 must be used. For memory, DDR2 (up to 1066MHz) or DDR3 (up to 1333MHz) is compatible. The general consensus amongst reviewers indicates that overclocking is well supported, similar to previous Phenom II products. Compared to competing Intel i5/i7 processors, the X6 1090T uses more energy when idle, but the difference is less significant under full loads. Users running threaded applications that take advantage of multiple cores should find the AMD Phenom II X6 1090T an acceptable performance upgrade.
